Aguilar Powers His Way To The Top!

Jakarta , February 15: Chile 's Felipe Aguilar took the early second round lead after recording the morning's best score of eight-under par 62 for a 13-under par 127 total at the Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open on Friday.

Thailand's Prom Meesawat, who finished seventh on the Asian Tour's Order of Merit and registered six top-10s last season, fired five straight birdies in his opening front nine before closing with a total of nine birdies to share joint-second place together with South Africa's James Kamte on matching 129s.

Austria 's Martin Wiegele took fourth place on 130, three strokes off the leader at the US$1.2 million co-sanctioned event between the Asian Tour and European Tour.

Chinese Taipei's Wang Ter-chang, meanwhile proved that age is no barrier to a superb performance when he managed to roll back the years, recording a total of seven birdies, one eagle and three bogeys to share fifth place with Wales ' Kyron Sullivan and Thailand 's Chinnarat Phadungsil.

“I probably missed one or two fairways, but it was a good round. I must have had two putts from around 10-12 metres and everything else was within five or six meters,” said Aguilar who believes that his first win on the European Tour will not be far from sight.

“I do feel ready. I have the will and I have the game. I just need to wait for the right week and hopefully it's this one,” added Aguilar.

Prom, who started the day in 10 th place, impressed the crowd at the Cengkareng Golf Club with his excellent drives and putting to line himself up for a shot at winning his first Asian Tour title since 2006.

“My putting has been very good today. Most of my second shots fell very close to the pins and I only have to tap them in for birdies,” said the young Thai star whose last victory on the Asian Tour was at the 2006 SK Telecom Open.

“I'm feeling very confident about my game now. I've been hitting my drivers well and making the best out of those second shots for birdies. I feel good” added the burly Thai star.

Wang, who finished third in the 2006 edition is also happy to be back playing on one of his favourite golf courses in Indonesia.

“I'm very happy with my play today. It's not too bad with seven birdies and one eagle. This is a tough course but I've always enjoyed playing well here,” said the 45-year-old veteran.
